Mighty Mouse really wants to fight Conor McGregor…
Defending his belt for a record tying tenth time, Demetrious Johnson blasted through Wilson Reis at UFC Kansas. Facing a Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt, Johnson, who’s never even competed in BJJ, submitted Reis with relative ease.
Since winning in style this past Saturday, Johnson has been uncharacteristically outspoken. During the post-fight press conference, ‘Mighty Mouse’ mentioned fighting Conor McGregor. Those comments came as a surprise to many, given the big gap in weight, but today Johnson continued with his crusade to fight the Irishman.
Mouse Wants McGregor
During a video interview with TMZ, Johnson explained why he should fight Conor McGregor next:
“It has to be someone from a different division, obviously. It would have to be Conor McGregor. Absolutely (that fight could happen), he’s about to fight Floyd Mayweather. To fight me, he wouldn’t have to fight in one aspect of martial arts. We do the same shit.”

“All we have to do is get a license and agree on a state. All he would have to do is make 135, or not even that, I could make 155. It would be a long f*cking night, for both of us. He’s got a lot of power in his left hand, in his kicks.”
“(McGregor) has put everyone to sleep apart from Nate Diaz, and Diaz is a bad mofo too.”
Elsewhere in the wheel of ‘Might Mouse’ chat, you may have heard the UFC on FOX 24 viewing numbers were record breaking. Sadly, not in a good way, as Saturday’s event drew the lowest overnight ratings in FOX-UFC history.
Responding to this ratings report, Johnson told MMAFighting.com the UFC has not been promoting him enough:
“If you don’t like what I did Saturday night, if you don’t like a white belt who never did one jiu-jitsu tournament submitting a black belt, that’s your bag. I’m done defending myself,” Johnson said.
“I went on Twitch and said, ‘I want to ask anyone in the world, have any of you guys seen a commercial for my fight?’” Johnson said. “And everyone was like, ‘no, no no.’ One guy said, ‘I saw one on the UFC.com YouTube channel.’ I’m like ‘okay, I haven’t seen one either.’”
“The first time I saw a commercial for my fight was UFC 210,” Johnson said. “The last one, the first time I saw a commercial was one week before my fight. No one here around [his hometown] knew I was fighting, just because they didn’t see a commercial.”
