The rankings in the UFC right now are pretty much a joke…

After defeating Jose Aldo at UFC 194 by spectacular knockout, the future for Conor McGregor was bright. When ‘The Notorious’ was matched with Rafel dos Anjos, the future for the featherweight division was bleak.

During a strange twist of events, Nate Diaz ended up fighting instead of RDA at UFC 196. The bad boy from Stockton threw a huge spanner in the works of the promotion, landing a slick submission over the UFC’s most popular star.

Diaz Part 2, Then Lightweight

With the featherweight title still in hand, McGregor was matched with Diaz again at UFC 202. The 145-pound division was in dismay, and ex-champ Jose Aldo threatened to leave the UFC.

The Irishman got a narrow decision over Diaz before heading to lightweight. Defeating Eddie Alvarez at UFC 205, McGregor put another division on hold by announcing an extended break for family reasons.

Among many in the 155-pound division, top ranked contender Tony Ferguson is frustrated. Here’s what ‘El Cucuy’ told McGregor over Twitter:

Ferguson Clearly Angry, McGregor Has Other Plans

Originally scheduled, again, to fight Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 209, Ferguson was left blue-balled when Khabib dropped out injured. Instead of facing Nurmagomedov, Ferguson was promoted to the number one contender spot, but not how he’d wanted.

Perhaps more frustrating for ‘El Cucuy’ is the latest statement from ‘The Notorious.’ Although he’s locked in a strange situation between being UFC champion and wanting to fight Floyd Mayweather, McGregor still has his mind on Nate Diaz.

Here’s what the Irishman said:

Ferguson In Tough Spot

If indeed McGregor faces Mayweather, or even Diaz next, what is to happen with Tony Ferguson? The pairing with Khabib seems to be cursed, and so the only other option is for him to fight lesser ranked fighters than himself. What a mess!
