UFC Fight Night 94 was absolutely insane. Hidalgo, Texas played host to the Fight Pass and FOX card, and it really went off. Unlike the pay-per-views that will probably lead to a record breaking year, UFC Fight Night 94 had no titles on the line.

Following the ridiculous success of UFC 196 and 202, UFC: Hidalgo had big shoes to fill. Once again the line-up of a free card proved that names mean nothing in terms of fan entertainment.

Michael Johnson vs. Dustin Poirier

The main event for the evening was a pivotal lightweight scrap between Michael Johnson and Dustin Poirier. The two highly regarded 155-pounders had some beef to settle, as things had got heated at the weigh-ins.

Obviously tensions run high before any fight, but the situation between Poirier and Johnson got particularly heated. As you’ll see in the video below, Poirier put his finger in Johnson’s eye during the weigh-ins staredown:

Karma

After seeing many incidents like this happen in the past, they become a little more trivial, until karma is served. When the two met in the octagon at UFC Fight Night 94, ‘The Menace’ made sure Poirier paid for his little eye poke.

‘Diamond’ was hoping to pass the final hurdle to the title mix with a win over Johnson, but it really didn’t go his way in Texas. To make things worse, it wasn’t just a tough fight or even close, he literally got wrecked.

Michael Johnson came back with a vengeance, making a statement against Dustin Poirier. ‘The Menace’ hadn’t fought since being dominated by Nate Diaz last December, and he was after blood in Texas.

The eventual finish was one of the nastiest knockouts you’ll see. It certainly had the crowd going crazy.
