Ken Shamrock

Ken Shamrock was a pioneer in the earliest days of Mixed Martial Arts, but in the years since he’s repeatedly managed to erode the reputation he had worked so hard to build back then.

Part of Shamrock’s problem has been his complete refusal to accept that his time in the sport had come and gone.

The former UFC superfight champion completely bombed during his second stint in the UFC during the early-mid 2000’s losing no less than three times by Tito Ortiz and evetually leaving with just a 1-5 record that suggested that it was time for the 42-year-old to hang up his gloves.

Instead, Shamrock made another comeback a few years later, and would go on to test positive for steroids after a fight in a regional promotion.

That didn’t stop Shamrock though and he has continued to fight into his 50’s, despite having won only 2 of his last 11 fights.

Worse still, after a fight with Kimbo Slice in the Bellator promotion back in 2016 Shamrock hit rock bottom after it emerged he’d tested positive for not only steroids, but also methadone – used to treat serious drug addiction.
