Sean Brady has confirmed that he will no longer be fighting Vicente Luque at the UFC Atlantic City event on March 30 in New Jersey. According to the fighter, he needs “a little bit more time to let a nagging injury completely heal up.”
This is a big blow for the promotion as the match was supposed to be a main event. Yet, it is not a surprise as Brady himself didn’t sign any contract for the fight due to his injury, despite the company making an official announcement about it. According to Brady, he still has to deal with the matter, resulting in the decision not to push the fight.
“For everybody who keeps asking me about March 30 unfortunately I will not be fighting Vicente Luque,” Brady wrote on Instagram. “I just need a little bit more time to let a nagging injury completely heal up. I will be ready to go end of April early May if he does not get into opponent, we can rebook.”
UFC still hasn’t confirmed the move now if it is finding someone who can replace Brady from the fight. If it is not pushed, this will be Luque’s latest bout to experience cancellation after his fight against Ian Machado Garry was scrapped from the UFC 296 lineup.
With the Brady vs. Luque bout gone from the lineup, the promotion will have a vacant slot for its main event. It was supposed to complement the Erin Blanchfield vs. Manon Fiorot fight, but it is currently unknown if the promotion will bump the female fighters’ match or set up another one to replace Luque and Brady’s.
