Conor McGregor is one of the most famous faces in combat sports today. The former UFC featherweight and lightweight champion has a massive fanbase. Many people loved him for his charisma and his way with words. When combined with his skills in the cage, it made him an exciting personality.
However, he is also incredibly volatile. Authorities arrested McGregor on numerous occasions. Last year he punched an older man in a bar for apparently no reason. Meanwhile, he smashed a fan’s phone outside a nightclub, lost his driving license, and spent a night in a Brooklyn cell.
But the worst stories relate to alleged sexual assaults. Now he has another one to add to his name because police in Corsica arrested him on charges related to sexual assault. The Irishman was holidaying with his fiancee Dee Devlin on their yacht in the Meditteranean. Somehow, McGregor can still find ways to get arrested when he’s literally sailing with his wife-to-be on the ocean.

Arrested
A Corsican court official issued a statement to Agent Stage France. They reported that police arrested the Irishman for an attempted sexual assault as well as sexual exhibition. Of course, these are alleged charges. However, police in Ireland questioned the former UFC champion in relation to a sexual assault case there before. These kinds of allegations are not good for your image, even if they’re not true. TMZ transcribed the statement:
“Following a complaint filed on September 10 denouncing acts that could be described as attempted sexual assault and sexual exhibition, Mr. Conor Anthony Mac Gregor was the subject of a hearing by the gendarmerie services.”

Statement
Since the arrest, one of McGregor’s representatives released a statement. In short, there wasn’t much detail given. However, it’s emphatically clear that the Notorious denies any wrongdoing. TMZ released the statement as you can read below:
“Conor Mcgregor vigorously denies any accusations of misconduct. He has been interviewed and released.”
It’s worth mentioning that McGregor isn’t the only athlete in trouble in the Mediterranean. Police in Greece arrested Manchester United captain Harry Maguire for assault and attempted bribery a couple of weeks ago. Maybe these superstars should just stay at home during these troubling times.
What’s going on here @ufc? USADA have just arrived to my yacht this morning for testing?
I’ve retired guys!
But go on then, I’ll allow them test me. It’s all natural here baby!
Forever and always, God Bless 🙏
180km across the Mediterranean Sea tomorrow! LET’S GO!! pic.twitter.com/xjk0wvci0n— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) September 11, 2020
Tested
This comes just a day after McGregor tweeted the above. He revealed that the UFC’s anti-doping partner USADA came to test him. Earlier this year, McGregor claimed to have retired for the third time . However, he clearly remains in the USADA testing pool which indicates that he wants to fight again. He tweeted:
“What’s going on here @ufc ? USADA have just arrived to my yacht this morning for testing? I’ve retired guys! But go on then, I’ll allow them test me. It’s all natural here baby! Forever and always, God Bless 180km across the Mediterranean Sea tomorrow! LET’S GO!!”
The Notorious has flirted with Nick Diaz. The elder Diaz brother says he wants to return next year. Obviously, McGregor has a history with Nate. This would be a fascinating and exciting potential fight.
