Justin Gaethje Wants That Red Panty Night… He’s Doing His Best to Incite a Response From Conor McGregor by Calling Him a Bad Father, Husband, and Human…

Conor McGregor is the most divisive figure in MMA today. The Irishman rose to the top, mobilising fans behind him as the sport has never seen before, but he’s tarnished his own reputation through a series of incidents that have seen him face multiple police charges.

The Irishman has smashed phones, bus windows and broken speeding laws. His name has been mentioned in relation to a sexual assault case. He’s insulted religions and attacked referees. Oh, and he punched an old man in a pub. What he hasn’t done is fight in a cage for almost twelve months.

Justin Gaethje is trying to change that. The former WSOF champion and current UFC lightweight contender is clearly hoping to lure McGregor into action with a series of personal attacks on the former two-weight champion.

Tool

Gaethje has always been a firebrand and he got straight to the point on social media. He clearly doesn’t like McGregor and sees the Irishman as an easy way to get rich quick, while simultaneously getting the exposure that would come with fighting the former champion. He tweeted:

“you’re a tool. You have lost everything already. You are a s**t human, father, and husband. F**k you.”

McGregor is no stranger to making things personal. The Irishman is renowned for his trash talk game. Over the course of long-standing rivalry with Khabib Nurmagamedov, he targeted everything from the Russian’s country, his religion and his family. There’s one problem with Gaethje’s statement though: McGregor isn’t married.

Rematch

It remains to be seen whether or not Gaethje will be able to rattle McGregor’s cage. Earlier in the year, Donald Cerrone thought that he had scored the red-panty night and did his best to build up hype by trying to be all chummy with ‘The Notorious.’ But it fell through and McGregor still hasn’t fought, although he has been recovering from a broken hand suffered in training.

While in theory, a fight with Gaethje would make sense from a rankings perspective, the Irishman definitely has his eye on the top prize. We know this because he tweeted directly after Khabib Nurmagamedov defeated Dustin Poirier:

“I want my rematch in Moscow.”

Why Not?

If McGregor is willing to hold out – and there’s no reason why he wouldn’t, because he’s the multi-millionaire owner of several companies – he could get that title fight. All is not 100% in Tony Ferguson’s relationship with the UFC. Dana White bizarrely said that if ‘El Cucuy’ wasn’t interested in fighting Khabib, then McGregor would be next in line. The UFC president said at the post-fight press conference:

“Yeah he’s next. Tony Ferguson is next in line for the fight if he accepts the fight. We’ll see how this thing plays out when Khabib will fight again and if Tony wants the fight. Tony Ferguson gets the next shot and obviously if for whatever reason Tony can’t take the fight or doesn’t want the fight at that time then we would figure out what was next but Conor would make a lot of sense.

Conor McGregor wants that fight really badly and I’m sure the fans would want to see it. So we’ll see how this whole thing plays out.”
