Delivering in a massive way in Rio De Janeiro last night was UFC 212. Although the card had a lot of great fight and finishes, the focus was no doubt on the main event of the evening. Jose Aldo vbs. Max Holloway had us all talking.

Carrying the interim belt to the Jeunesse Arena, Holloway was in hostile territory. As fans chanted ‘you’re going to die,’ the reality of the challenge at hand for ‘Blessed’ was all too clear.

Holloway brutalized the now-former champion for a huge win…

Thrilling Fight, Exciting Future

Earning fight of the night honours, Jose Aldo and Max Holloway put on a brilliant war. Taking out Aldo in the third round with a nasty ground flurry, the Hawaiian captured the undisputed featherweight championship.

Just like he’d promised, Holloway marched in to Brazil and dominated one of the greatest champs in UFC history. In doing so, ‘Blessed’ unlocked a very bright future in the 145-pound division.

Not long after wrecking ‘Scarface,’ the questions turned to an old rival in Conor McGregor.

Holloway’s Statement To McGregor

Although they were both much younger at different fighters at the time, McGregor beat Holloway convincingly. Since that time Holloway has won 11 straight fights, and is the current champion of the division.

Speaking to media at the post fight press conference, the newly minted boss made a statement regarding ‘The Notorious.’ Here’s what was said via Bloody Elbow:

“Like I said before, I’ma say it again. That guy was the 2015 champ. This is called the year 2017 right now and I’m the champ,” Holloway said about McGregor. “If he wants to come back down, he can come and get it. But if not, it is what it is.”

Meet the new undisputed UFC featherweight champion Max Holloway…

“He’s a guy who is always looking over the fence, always trying to look for the next great thing or whatever. Demetrious Johnson, he finds this motivation to keep defending. It takes a special human being to do that, and that’s me. I want to defend my throne. I want my fans to know and love me because I want to defend this. I want to show I’m the champ.

“Come try to take over my village — off with your head, that’s what I’m going to do. This guy is always trying to look for the bigger thing, and that’s him. Good for him. At the end of the day, I’m not going to chase him around.

“I’m not going to talk about someone who isn’t talking about me. He gets to choose his fights, why will I cry or beg him to fight me? Get the hell out of here with that s—t. He should beg to fight me now.”

“I’m coming to the point where people are going to ask me to fight. I ain’t asking anyone to fight. I’ve got my throne. If he wants it, come see me.”
