MMA has always been a sport that’s had a strong following among celebrities, from some of the biggest names in Hollywood through to famous rockstars and rappers.
Not all celebrities are fans of fighting though, as we’ll see in this article, even some who are supporters can overstep the mark by trash-talking and even publicly calling out some the sports biggest stars!
Snoop Dogg
Snoog Dogg’s enthusiasm for watching MMA led the UFC to have him provide an alternative commentary option for the first season of Dana White’s Contender Series alongside Urijah Faber.
Despite his UFC gig, the rap superstar roasted Conor McGregor in an Instagram video moments after he lost to Floyd Mayweather in a boxing match.
“Yeah, n****,” Snoop could be heard yelling. “That’s what you get for coming to a motherf***ing gang fight with a butter knife you b***ass motherf***er. F*** you, n****. Money Team champ, n****. Where the party at, Floyd? Yeaaah!”
UFC star Matt Brown was among those who objected to that rant, demanding that he be fired from the UFC and warning that he’d punch him in the face if he saw him.
Snoop was also criticized after he mistook Darren Till for Colby Covington during his loss to Tyron Woodley, repeatedly making racial remarks and shouting “f*ck Donald Trump!” on video during the fight.
Till told him to “f*ck off” afterwards, while Covington followed suit, saying, “f*ck you, you little crusty old stick figure with Tourette’s.”
Amid growing unease at his controversial comments and lack of MMA knowledge, Snoop’s commentary gig soon came to an end.
