Chris Weidman
Chris Weidman was so desparate to make his mark in the UFC early in his career that he agreed to take a short notice fight with Demian Maia in 2012, despite it meaning he had to cut 35lbs in just 10 days.
Needless to say that took a tremendous toll on his body in the days leading up to the fight, and eventually led to his body stopping sheeding water no matter what he did.
As a result he became increasingly delerious and began blacking out when he stood up.
Weidman admits he felt on the verge of death and it became so harrowing to watch his struggle that his own coach Ray Longo was left in tears and begged him to stop.
Somehow Weidman still made weight and despite an exceptionally lethargic performance the next day he emerged victorious, but he’s learned his lesson and vowed never to put himself through such an extreme weight again.
