Wow…Mark Hunt is back, and he just sent one of the divisions most promising prospects to early retirement…

Heading in to UFC Fight Night 110 in Auckland, New Zealand, hopes were high for an entertaining card. Although the UFC, somewhat typically, had done little to promote the show, the stars of the main event drew a lot of attention.

Former K-1 champion and Pride FC veteran Mark Hunt fought Derrick Lewis in the top spot. Featuring two fighters at opposite points in their careers, many though this would be a changing of the guard in the division.

Mark Hunt, Resurgent And Defiant…Again

Keeping with his modus operandi, defiant heavyweight legend Mark Hunt overcame the odds in New Zealand. Finishing Derrick Lewis with a barrage of strikes in round four, ‘Super Samoan’ once again overcame the odds.

Considering his current lawsuit against the UFC, this was a win in many ways for the fan favourite knockout artist.

Thoughts After Mark Hunt Finishes Derrick Lewis

Having suffered some hard defeats in recent action, Mark Hunt again proves he belongs in the top flight. Many had picked Derrick Lewis for the win, mainly with age and hunger in mind, but ‘Super Samoan’ clearly still has that fire.

As for Lewis, retirement may well be premature, but that of course is his choice to make. Having trolled the living daylights out of Ronda Rousey and Travis Browne following their recent losses, don’t be surprised if Team Rousey fire back.

Fellow UFC heavyweight prospect Francis Ngannou had the following to say:

So, all in all, a great night of action in New Zealand. Tons of knockouts and exciting wars, but the main event was the big story of the evening. Below you can view the full UFC Fight Night 110 results:
