Tatiana Suarez will no longer be joining the UFC 298 lineup after withdrawing due to an injury. Nonetheless, the female fighter wants fans to know that it won’t be as long as her former layoff that lasted almost four years.

This week, Suarez exited the lineup of the event, where she was supposed to fight Amanda Lemos. Fortunately for the opponent, Mackenzie Dern has stepped in to take Suarez’s place.

For fans of Suarez, nonetheless, the news is frustrating. The fighter just returned from her nearly four-year layoff due to injuries. When she came back, the 33-year-old submitted both Montana De La Rosa and Jessica Andrade in 2023. Prior to this, Suarez also made a five-fight winning streak, giving her a clean UFC record.

Sadly, extending this streak would have to wait as she will no longer be fighting next month. As Suarez shared in her recent post on Instagram, nonetheless, there is hope that she might make an appearance soon in one of the promotion’s next events.

“I’m making this post because I know there are many people who support me that are concerned,” Suarez wrote. “I won’t be out for long. A minor setback. I asked to postpone just a few weeks so I could heal up and train. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen,” Suarez wrote. “Sometimes it’s just not meant to be. I apologize to @amandalemos_ufc some things are just out of our control. Injuries happen it’s part of the game. I’m thankful it’s not something that will keep me out for an extended amount of time.

“All I can do now is focus on the things I can control and that’s stay on the grind. Mentally focused and continuously learning and evolving. Doing what I can and striving for greatness every day. Even if that’s a lift, a mitt session or simply watching film. I’ll continue to make my run this year 2024. Thank you for your support.”
