Rich Guerin
Veteran MMA fighter turned coach Rich Guerin died of natural causes on October 10th at 49-years-of-age.
Guerin’s wife stated on Facebook that Guerin had suffered a medical emergency that Monday night and had been taken to hospital, but was then released and seemed to be ok.
However, in the early hours of Tuesday morning Guerin stopped breathing and was rushed back into the emergency room and was later declared dead, with an official coroner’s report later stating that his death was cardiac-related.
Guerin’s MMA career began back in 1999 and he’d compile a 13-10 record over the nine years that followed, including picking up wins over the likes of Matt Horwich, Shannon Ritch and Cedric Marks.
After retiring, Guerin focused on running his Yakima MMA gym and was a highly respected member of his local community. He leaves behind his wife and two children.
