Ilia Topuria continues to give big names he wants to challenge soon while setting aside the top contenders of his own division. Needless to say, No. 5 featherweight Movsar Evloev doesn’t like any part of the champ’s plans.
Topuria is the new UFC featherweight king after he successfully dethroned Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298 this month. After this, “El Matador” reiterated his plan to fight Conor McGregor, noting that he has no interest in facing the division’s top contenders. This received criticism from “The Great” himself, but the young fighter continued to expand his list.
Aside from McGregor, Topuria has also recently shown interest in challenging bigger names in the MMA industry, including former UFC lightweight champ Khabib Nurmagomedov and UFC pound-for-pound king Islam Makhachev.
Despite this, Evloev believes he is the rightful challenger for the featherweight champ. Yet, in spite of being an undefeated fighter in the class weight, Topuria turned down Evloev, noting that the fighter has no finish in his record. The 27-year-old further said that the Russian fighter “needs to do something” and “finish someone.”
Conor, Islam, Khabib, Mayweather, Muhammad Ali, Messi… Who else do you want to fight rather than the only undefeated fighter in your division? @Topuriailia https://t.co/xzUE8gRiZm

Evloev is not deterred by Topuria’s belief, believing that his record is enough to grant him the title shot. In his recent post on X, the fighter echoed the disapproval of fans regarding Topuria’s callouts not only to those outside his division but so also to those who are retired and inactive fighters.
