Glenn Robinson

While not a fighter himself, the founder of the Blackzilians fight team, Glenn Robinson deserves an honorable mention here after passing away from a heart attack on September 20th.

Robinson originally ran a successful hand tool company, but then transitioned to MMA, forming the Blackzilians fight team in 2011, which initially consisted of a number of high-profile fighters who decided to split away from the American Top Team camp.

Among them were the likes of Rashad Evans, Anthony Johnson and Michael Johnson, whose career’s Robinson also oversaw via his Authentic Sports Management company, alongside others like Alistair Overeem, Vitor Belfort and Eddie Alvarez.

Robinson featured on The Ultimate Fighter Season 21, which pitted the Blackzilians against their rival ATT camp, and they’d emerge victorious in the final when Kamaru Usman defeated Hayder Hassan to become the next TUF winner.

However, the team would eventually begin to disintegrate due to internal management issues, while Robinson was also forced to file bankruptcy from his Iron Bridge Tools company in 2017.

Robinson is survived by his wife and daughters.
