Amanda Nunes knows that her MMA era is still not over. With this, the former fighter is pondering about a possible comeback.

Nunes was present at UFC 297 to watch Raquel Pennington and Mayra Bueno Silva fight for the vacant women’s bantamweight title. And with Pennington securing the belt, Nunes realized that her heart is still in the cage.

“I was nervous [watching the title fight],” Nunes said during the UFC 297 post-fight show. “I don’t know why, but I was very nervous. It was mixed feelings. I was happy and sad. When I saw ‘Rocky’ with the belt, I was OK. I wasn’t upset or anything like that…

“I’m still young, fresh. We never know [what might happen]. We have a lot of things to do. I’ve got to figure out a bunch of things at home still, what I’m going to do and see what happens.”

Nunes is a former women’s featherweight champion and two-time women’s bantamweight champion. With this record, the Brazilian fighter is considered the greatest female mixed martial artist of all time. However, after her successful fight last June at UFC 289, the 35-year-old decided to retire in order to welcome her second child despite still being at the top of her game. And while Nunes shows no regret about the decision to spend time with her family, she knows that the octagon is pulling her back as she still has something to give.t

“I don’t know — we never know,” Nunes said without sharing a specific timeline for her return. “I’m a fighter, and this is my job. I love this so much, and I don’t know. I enjoy as well not being in the gym everyday and having a normal life, stay home a little bit and be lazy. I [can’t be] lazy as a fighter; it’s very hard.

“But I’m still healthy and powerful, smart, think like a champion. I still feel like a champion, so we’ll see.”
