The boxing community might have mixed feelings with regards to the news but majority would probably be disappointed that they might have to wait a bit more for the next undisputed heavyweight champion.

Most of the fans were optimistic that we might see a super-fight between Tyson Fury vs Wilder, it even went to as far as contract signing for the venue and fight purse. Fury also announced a done deal in his Twitter account, but after a few days, it was later revealed that the ruling for the contract’s rematch clause favored in Wilder’s side.

Fury needs to fight Wilder for the third time as per the ruling, which means that Anthony Joshua will not be his next opponent. It was supposedly a massive fight that would make the heavyweight division, have one name and one face.

The reality is Wilder did deserve to have a rematch, but it has now come to an expiration and Fury has not fought since their second fight. You could blame the pandemic for delaying their fight date, and it was in Wilder’s control anymore. That may have been the deciding factor for the ruling.

Although there is also on the other side that says, the fight has been pushed too long and that Fury hasn’t fought for a while. Fury needs to defend his WBC belt more often. Wilder was beaten one-sidedly that most think he might just get beat up again, so they suggested that Wilder should have a chance to face the winner of the potential Fury-Joshua clash.

Fans can argue all they want but at the end of the day, the next fight to make is Fury vs Wilder 3. Although Fury might be favored heavily in the fight, Wilder still has that “eraser” that could end the night with just one punch.
