Derek Brunson negated Gegard Mousasi’s earlier claim that he rejected a PFL fight offer. According to “Blonde,” he is simply enjoying the holidays with his family.

Mousasi will have his debut under PFL after leaving Bellator, where he lost in his last two fights against Fabian Edwards and Johnny Eblen. Mousasi hopes to redeem himself and end his losing skid with his entrance into PFL and his debut fight with Brunson. The Dutch, however, claimed that Brunson refused to fight him.

“Update: PFL wants to fight me very soon against [Derek Brunson],” Mousasi wrote in his recent X post. “He said he wanted nothing to do with it. 3x he has refused to fight me over the years. The fans lose. Let’s hope PFL can find me a MW. I am ready.”

The American, nonetheless, denied the claim. In his post, the fighter shared what makes him busy these days.

“Stop the cap,” Brunson wrote. “No one is avoiding you. I’m enjoying the holidays with my family and kids. I already missed Thanksgiving. I won’t accept a fight that I can’t dedicate a camp to. Goofy a*** boy.”

Brunson is one of the few PFL fighters who can fight Mousasi and other Bellator fighters who still don’t have their middleweight counterparts at PFL. With this, Mousasi and other Bellator talents, like Johnny Eblen, find themselves looking for PFL talents who previously fought under the said division. Fortunately, after confirming the purchase of Bellator, PFL revealed that it has a plan to unveil its own bantamweight and middleweight rosters by 2025. The promotion also promised to involve Bellator fighters who still don’t have their respective PFL counterparts in its superfight series.
