“I fully expect Conor [McGregor] to come back and defend his 145-pound title,” said White, in a recent interview with UFC.com. “I think that Nate [Diaz] feels his brother should have the fight at 170, but Nick is not going to come back and fight for the title right away.”
“There are other guys deserving of a title shot. Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson is going to fight for the 170-pound title and then we’ll see what happens with Nick and Nate.”
“I know Nate Diaz is fighting Conor McGregor and I would like to try to get the winner of that fight,” Alvarez said on CSN Philly’s Breakfast on Board morning show. “Hopefully somebody comes out on top there and they sign on the dotted line.”
There have been major shakeups in the UFC as of late, with plenty of titles changing hands and various high-profile fighters getting dropped from the rankings. It’s great for all the fans however, explains White, as well as for the sport.

Numbers
One fighter who is not shy about what he wants is newly crowned UFC lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez. UFC 202 five days away and is set to take place August 20 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. It’s going to be one hell of an event if White is to be believed.
“If you look at how big Manny Pacquiao-Floyd Mayweather was and how big Diaz-McGregor 1 was – Diaz-McGregor delivered,” White said. “That fight delivered on all the hype and all the excitement and energy, and this one will, too.”
