Wow, UFC president Dana White goes completely nuts after UFC Gdansk. Looks like the fans have really pushed his buttons this time…
Going down with a bang in Gdansk, Poland last night, UFC Fight Night 118 was a solid showing. Featuring a number of hometown favorites, as per usual with foreign cards, the Fight Pass show was stacked with action.
Taking place in the main event was a welterweight showdown between long-serving lightweight-come-welterweight Donald Cerrone and undefeated prospect Darren Till. The odds were close, but many expected ‘Cowboy’ to get the win.
With all eyes on him, Till performed extremely well, and before the end of round one, he had Cerrone cracked. Usually very active with his striking, Cerrone looked cagey and ended up paying for his hesitation.
‘The Gorilla’ snapped out a slick one-two combo that shattered Cerrone’s nose. From then on, it was only a matter of time before the TKO stoppage. Then came Dana White’s Instagram post that started a mini-storm.
Posting this image of the fight to his IG account, the UFC president came up against a ton of trolls online. Apparently, people don’t take kindly to seeing their favourite fighter lose and then have White praising their performance.
Just moments after posting the image, the UFC president came to both fighter’s defense with a scathing and explicit rant:
SHUT THE FUCK UP U PUSSIES!!!!!! This kid just put on an unbelievable performance against a fuckin legend and BAD ASS MOTHER FUCKER IN @cowboycerrone when fighters step in they win or they lose. Cowboy has been on both sides and showed total class as usual and praised @darrentill2 .
U people on social media are the biggest cryin fuckin pussies I have ever seen. I love cowboy. He fought and lost tonight. It happens so SHUT THE FUCK UP!!!!!!!
Fair Enough or Too Much?
Given the age we live in, social media backlash is to be expected. There’s just too much security for trolls behind the safety of their screens, probably in their mother’s basement too.
Should White simply ignore the trolls, or is he justified in feeding them in such a manner? Till’s win is game-changing for the young Brit, who will no doubt get a top-ranked opponent in his next outing.
