Diego Lopes and Sodiq Yusuff are two of the fighters who will be at UFC 300 in April, according to the profile of both fighters.
This is huge news for Lopes, who earlier expressed interest in getting bigger opportunities under the promotion. After his KO victory at UFC 295 over Pat Sabatini, the young fighter immediately shared his expectations from the promotion, including his hope of getting a main-event bout against Bryce Mitchell and entering the featherweight rankings. None of these happened, but the company is giving him a better one: a UFC 300 spot.
This will be a huge opportunity for the young fighter to enter the ranking, with Yusuff being the current No. 12-ranked featherweight in the UFC. The fighter started his official promotion fight in December 2018 and will be coming from a recent loss to Edson Barboza last October. Nonetheless, “Super” boasts a UFC record of 6-2 and an impressive record when he competed at Dana White’s Contender Series, where he won eight out of his nine fights.
Lopes, on the other hand, also has a record to be proud of. Despite being new in the UFC and losing to Movsar Evloev in his debut, the young fighter bounced back and won his last two fights via knockout and submission. Prior to his entrance into the promotion, the fighter also impressed the industry in his earlier fights, giving him nine KOs, 12 submission wins, and 14 first-round finishes in his record.
