Former Champ: Mayweather Scared Of McGregor, Would Run Around The Ring

Once again the talk has turned to Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather. Apparently obsessed with this wild pairing, the media tends to pick this ball up and run at every opportunity. Let’s face it, the match is very unlikely.

Yet still, the obsession goes on, but why? Well, in reality, you are looking at the two best fighters in their respective sports. When two athletes with sure pure skill and accomplishments are in the same town, this is bound to happen.

Since UFC 205

Although UFC 205 only went down six days ago, there’s been plenty more going on between these two. The timeline of the Mayweather/McGregor beef was extended when ‘The Notorious’ beat Eddie Alvarez in New York.

Winning his second title, the fans were starting to compare McGregor with ‘Money’ Mayweather. The now-retired boxing champion claimed McGregor was an ‘ant’ comparing himself to an ‘elephant.’ Obviously the Irish star didn’t take kindly, and claimed Mayweather would never show up to fight him.

Lennox Lewis Says Floyd Is Scared

Former undisputed world heavyweight boxing champion Lennow Lewis has now joined the conversation. While speaking with The Star, one of the greatest living boxers said he believed Mayweather would literally run from Conor McGregor:

Speaking exclusively to Daily Star Sport, the former WBC, IBF and WBO heavyweight champ said: “I just think it’s all hype. I don’t think Floyd is going to do that. I think Floyd is just talking.

“I don’t think he’ll do it because he’s a scared fighter. So, he’ll do the same thing he’ll always do – run around the ring. It’s not going to be that much of a fight.”

“I don’t see him standing there to fight,” he added. “And then as he gets older, he’s not going to take any chances.”

“I think it’s all hype and I think it’s silly too,” he continued.

“I think it’s ridiculous, I think it’s a sham if it happens. It’s like me saying, “I’m going to go box Frank Bruno.'”
