Kayla Harrison has finally commented on the news about her move to the UFC. According to the former PFL fighter, her main goal is to be the best and the Olympic champion in the MMA world, and the UFC is the one offering this opportunity.
This week, the UFC made a groundbreaking announcement, with CEO Dana White confirming Harrison’s signing to the promotion. In line with this, the executive shared that the new fighter will be joining the UFC 300 lineup to face Holly Holm in a bantamweight bout.
After this, the PFL shared its statement about the matter, expressing its disappointment over Harrion’s decision to leave and not to pursue the planned fight against Bellator champ Cris Cyborg.
Now, Harrison made her first statement about her decision, and although the fighter did not exactly address her former company’s sentiment, she underscored what enticed her to sign with UFC.
“When I started competing, my goal was to be the best…the Olympic champion of #MMA. The @UFC presents me with the opportunity to be just that. It’s been an amazing journey to reach this point, and I’m grateful for every step along the path. The highs and lows have all shaped me and made me an even better version of myself. God’s timing is perfect, and I am sure of one thing: My time is now. Let’s goooooo!.”
Prior to this, Harrison called out Cyborg for a fight, but PFL announced that it would prioritize its champ, Larissa Pacheco. The Bellator fighter, nonetheless, was insistent on having Harrison but revealed accusations that their fight was not included in the PFL vs. Bellator event due to Harrison not sending her contract. Cyborg didn’t share other details about the matter, but Harrison’s move to UFC is likely the biggest reason behind it.
