When the camera was pointed to Nick Diaz at UFC 261, fans erupted. It is safe to assume that the Diaz brothers are still popular among the fans despite being inactive inside the Octagon for quite a while. It did not take long for the fans to speculate whether Nick will return to fight again.
When the event ended, Dana White was asked whether Diaz has a chance of returning to the Octagon. The UFC President seems optimistic and is trying to work on a deal with Nick Diaz.
According to sources, Nick Diaz has in fact been offered a fight with Khamzat Chimaev for his proposed Octagon return. Nothing set in stone yet. But the offer has been made. #UFC #MMA

If true then Nick Diaz will have no easy match since the UFC is offering him probably the biggest rising star in the UFC right now. Khamzat Chimaev is an undefeated fighter that debuted in 2020 and got a lot of eyes looking at him. Chimaev’s potential is so massive that even the UFC was initially pushing him to fight a top 5 ranked fighter, Leon Edwards.
Due to a lot off issues from COVID, the fight did not happen. Although Chimaev is also aiming to return soon. In his Instagram, he called out Nick Diaz for a potential fight.
Massive fight to make for both parties but the reality is Khamzat Chimaev is probably going in as a heavy favorite. Nick Diaz has not fought since 2015 and has not won since 2011. Of course the pay will be nice, but it might be sad for the hardcore Diaz fans to watch Nick get demolished. Although Diaz are known for their durability and there will always be a chance for an upset.

The Diaz brothers are probably the most popular sibling duo in the UFC, Nick Diaz has carved his own legacy and even became a champion in the Strikeforce Organization. Nick is known for his rival against George St Pierre, sadly he got demolished in the fight. He also had a controversial loss against Carlos Condit where it was for the interim welterweight belt.
