Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin vs. Saul Canelo Alvarez could easily be the fight of 2016, and this promo will get the adrenaline pumping through your system!
Canelo Alvarez cemented himself as one of the best middleweight of his era this past weekend. Snubbing legend Miguel Cotto in the age old Puerto Rico vs. Mexico rivalry this past Saturday November 14, Saul is now the WBC middleweight champion and one of the brightest stars in the entire sport.
All this, and Canelo is just 25 years old, and has been fighting as a professional since 2005. 10 years of hard work, and only one loss as a pro to Floyd Mayweather, and Alvarez stands on the brink of all-time great status. But there’s still plenty of unfinished business in the division.
The fighter that looms over Alvarez’s great win over Cotto is the one and only Gennady Golovkin. The soul crushing middleweight knockout artist ‘GGG’ is on a tear right now. He is the WBC (interim) WBA super, IBF and IBO middleweight champion.
A former Olympian for his home nation of Kazakhstan, Golovkin’s boxing pedigree is simply unquestionable. He is 34-0 with 31 knockouts, and is the most avoided fighter in all boxing right now.
Miguel Cotto didn’t want any of ‘GGG’s’ power, but Alvarez has openly stated he wants to fight the touted power puncher. With all signs pointing towards a 2016 encounter between the two popular middleweights, expect the all-time boxing PPV record to be threatened.
