It’s been a crazy few weeks in the world of mixed martial arts. Following an insane 2016, we’re whittling down to the final events of the year. Undoubtedly the biggest story of this year so far came at UFC 205.
Leading up to the historic New York City event, all eyes were on Eddie Alvarez and Conor McGregor. Holding the lightweight belt at the time, Alvarez vowed to end the McGregor hype train. How wrong he was.

New York, New Champion
Becoming the first ever UFC champion to hold two belts at the same time, McGregor rocked everybody’s world. His speed, timing, accuracy and power were simply a joy to watch, and testament to a great and complete fighter.
Following that epic win, tons of praise has been thrown McGregor’s way. Talk about the ‘greatest of all-time’ has caused massive debate, as McGregor continues to divide opinion. Ask UFC commentator Joe Rogan though, and he definitely buys the hype.
Check ut Roghan’s comments about McGregor from his recent podcast:
Joe Rogan on Conor McGregor
“Right now, Conor McGregor is bigger than Floyd Mayweather. Think about the amount of excitement that Floyd generates. It doesn’t even compare to the excitement for Conor McGregor’s fight.”
“When Conor goes out there, people go crazy. How many people go to watch Floyd lose, and how many go to watch Conor fight? He goes out there and wins the world title with the fastest championship knockout ever. After that, he comes back and makes Eddie Alvarez look like he has no business in there with him.”
“He’s different from anybody else. He’s got 15 dicks, a bag of gold and a leprechaun outfit! They gave him a rolls royce with his face on it. He fought Nate Diaz after a staph infection, they are dangerous as f*ck. Imagine this guy fighting two weeks after that, then he fights Nate again in a crazy five round war.”
“I thought the decision was correct.”
