There are still no exact confirmations when Conor McGregor will be back in the cage, but “The Notorious” hinted in a recent comment to a fan that he is “in” for the UFC 300, which is expected to be in April 2024. But that does not confirm anything.
McGregor shared the comment after a fan asked him about his possible entrance at the event. This gives fans hope as the star continues to stay inactive after his fight against Dustin Poirier. Aside from USADA, however, there are some speculations that there are other elements resulting in the continuous absence of the fighter in the cage. McGregor, nonetheless, dismissed it.
“I am confident we [will] get the set date,” said the Irish fighter. “There is no one holding no one back. A lot goes on behind the scenes but all involved are working hard to make it happen.”
Further supporting the approaching return of McGregor is his recent drug test with USADA. To recall, he faced an issue with the agency, with the fighter himself from its drug-testing pool while recovering from his broken leg caused by his fight against Poirier. Now, with the fighter resuming his drug testing, McGregor could indeed be in time just to reach UFC 300 in April.
Unfortunately, there is little chance that will happen as McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh, himself said that April is impossible.
“We were hoping for April. That was the hope. That was what we were told. And now it seems to be the summertime,” Kavanagh said.
