While everyone is still guessing the date of when Conor “The Notorious” McGregor will return to the cage and who he will fight next, former MMA fighter Daniel Cormier already has some details in his mind. According to the commentator, if there is one name to suggest, it would be Michael Chandler.
“UFC 100 had Brock [Lesnar], right? With Georges St-Pierre and all those guys,” Cormier stated on DC & RC. “UFC 200 had Brock – it was supposed to be me and [Jon] Jones also – but it ended up being me, Anderson Silva, Brock, all these guys. Big names. UFC 300 has to have a name like that…I think you have to have a Conor McGregor vs. Michael Chandler. I think Michael Chandler gets his shot now, in the main event.”
Cormier’s statement is not far from possible, especially after fans reacted positively about McGregor and Chandler serving as coaches on The Ultimate Fighter Season 31. The presence of the two sparked the belief that the two would fight at the end of the show. While that didn’t happen, there’s now a possibility of the two clashing in the cage in the future.
