This weekend, Jiří “Denisa” Procházka will be facing Alex “Poatan” Pereira for the light heavyweight title. In the main event at Madison Square Garden, joining Pereira’s side is Glover Teixeira, who already saw the power of The Czech Samurai. While others believe that Teixeira’s advice would aid Pereira in winning the bout, Procházka remains unbothered.
It can be recalled that Procházka defeated Teixeira in their last bout at UFC 275 in June. From this defeat, some believe that the experience Teixeira gathered from the bout could benefit Pereira’s upcoming fight. Procházka, nonetheless, negated the idea, saying he’s a completely different fighter now from what Teixeira faced in 2022.
“He can show him whatever, but after the fight with Glover, I changed myself like, totally, so that I’m a different style,” Procházka said. “I upgraded my style to another level. That’s what I want to show, that evolution of the style, that evolution of martial arts in me, this Saturday.
“You have to forget your past personality. I started to see myself as something that I can’t explain,” Procházka continued. “One thing I can say, it’s about evolving. Now I’m 31 years old, so almost the same age as the UFC. That’s what I want to show.”
Procházka, with a record of 29-3-1 MMA/3-0 UFC, will prove that on Saturday. In the main event, Denisa will face Poatan, bearing the 8-2 MMA/5-1 UFC record. While the Czech’s last UFC battle occurred last year, Pereira is still relatively fresh from a July fight where he defeated Jan Błachowicz. With these differences and Teixeira’s presence at UFC 295, the end result of the bout is something to excite UFC fans this weekend.
