Having stomped out competition such as Marco Rubio, David Lemieux, Willie Monroe Jr. and Martin Murray, you could argue that ‘Good Boy’ hasn’t quite faced the same tier of competition as Alvarez.
Opposite to that statement, is the fact that ‘GGG’ is the much more exciting fighter. With a finishing rate like Golovkin’s, it’s hard to argue against who most casual fans will be rooting for on fight night.
Of course boxing matchmaking isn’t always as proper as we’d like it to be, but this is surely a no brainer booking for 2016. With no one else in the division holding half as much status as either man, Gennady Golovkin vs. Canelo Alvarez is the only fight that makes sense at middleweight.
