Jim Miller has been promised a spot at UFC 300, and he knows that he must bring a fight-worthy opponent when he faces the crowd again in April. As such, aside from Paul Felder, the fighter is now considering Matt Brown.

Last weekend, Miller collected another win for his record and increased his submission victory by defeating Gabriel Benitez at UFC Fight Night 234. This has further cemented his place in the promotion and its favor for him.

It can be recalled that during the announcement of the UFC 300, CEO Dana White shared that Miller will participate in the This is going to be the third time “A-10” will join UFC’s 00 events after fighting at UFC 100 and 200. Now, the fighter is finding the right match for him the next time he enters the octagon.

The submission master was originally considering Felder, who has been in retirement since 2020. However, Miller has added Brown to his choices and is now weighing between the two.

“Paul and I almost fought in 2015,” Miller said during a news conference after his fight. “I think that fight would be brutal. I think that is a brutal fight, me and him, locked in a cage for 15 minutes. I also think that that Matt Brown fight is amazing, as well. I think it’s awesome, because one, I don’t have to cut weight – and two, he’s the guy with most finishes at welterweight. I’m the guy with the most finishes at lightweight. That’s a fight for (UFC) 300. Let’s put on a show. Let’s go out. Let’s entertain.

“I’m willing to move up in weight for that type of event. It’s not like I’m trying to get my rankings up or anything like that. Particularly at (UFC) 300, I’d hop in at any moment if Sean (Shelby) called me for those type of fights. Sean, if you’re watching, yeah, I want to put on an epic show with two badass dudes who have been around for a bit. I think Matt might be that guy.”

The news follows Brown’s revelation of his talk with Shelby about the possibility of joining the event. However, the fighter shared that there’s still no certainty on it as he could also be placed in other events.

“I’m working on it,” Brown said on the recent episode of The Fighter vs. The Writer podcast. “I talked to Sean [Shelby] and said ‘I’d like to be on it.’ That’s as far as I’ve got so far.

“We talked a little bit. To sum it up as easy as I can, he said basically he can more or less guarantee me a spot on 300 — he didn’t use the word guarantee — but the placement, I could get a higher place on a different card potentially, if that makes sense. Being that it’s 300, you might end up a little lower than you want to be where as you might get on a different card and be higher. So which one do you do?”
