Khabib Nurmagamedov’s Dad Has Absolutely Slated Conor McGregor’s Wrestling…

If there is one major weakness in Conor McGregor’s armory, it’s his general ground game. He’s a decent grappler, but he’s not exceptional. Unfortunately for the Notorious, Khabib Nurmagamedov is an extraordinary wrestler, capable of ferocious pressure, and that’s why the Russian fighter is the favorite going into their fight on October 6.

As we get closer – we’re less than two months away now – the war of words is going to heat up. We’ve seen most of McGregor’s opponents wilt in the spotlight, unable to keep up with the Irishman’s endless trash talk. The Nurmagamedov family are not afraid to give it back though, and now Khabib’s dad has joined in targeting McGregor.

Abdulmanap Nurmagamedov has the title “Honoured Coach of Russia.” It’s no wonder because this Judo and Sambo expert has trained a whole stable of killers, including his own son Khabib. He also makes for a good interview.

Brutal

Nurmagamedov Sr.’s interview style is as relentless as his son’s wrestling. It’s full of glorious little soundbites, which are unfortunately in Russian. If you watch the entire video, you can turn on subtitles. If you don’t have time for that, we’ll go through the best bits. Basically, Abdulmanap believes that Khabib is too much of a beast for McGregor to handle.

“Physically and tactically, Khabib is stronger than Conor”, he said. “We will choke him out when we decide to do it We will respect our fans – if they want to watch five rounds they will get it. What does he have other than a punchers’ chance? Nothing.”

“Those long arms, his waist is good for women’s figure skating. He can’t compete with that level of wrestling. He can be dangerous for the first 8 or 9 minutes, and no more. After two rounds he has nothing left on the feet. He is not the one to make us answer for the situation with Lobov.”

No Chance

It’s obvious that he’s going to favor Khabib’s chances, but surely he accepts that McGregor is an elite striker? No chance. Abdulmanap doesn’t even think he should have been in title contention. He even took time to throw a dig at Nate Diaz:

“When he took the belt there were six lightweights that were stronger than him, including three of mine – Khabib, Islam Makhachev, and Rustam Khabilov.

Nate Diaz is a more lucrative fight for Conor? No. Do people still think that he is a top fighter? No. Makhachev will make Nate Diaz look like a baby in that fight. McGregor won’t earn the same money in any other fight. He knows that five rounds against Khabib is a nightmare.”

Wait and See

In the end, it’s a waiting game. The pair will finally duke it out on October 6, in Las Vegas’s T-Mobile Arena. Tickets are on sale this week. One of the best parts of this fight, apart the grudge element is that it really could go either way.
