Neil Magny is now 36, but he believes he still has a lot of things to do for his MMA career. And with a KO win over the “young up-and-coming” Mike Malott, the veteran knows that he’s more than capable of dealing with all kinds of fighters the UFC has to offer to him.

Magny returned to the winning column after experiencing defeat from Ian Machado Garry last August. “The Haitian Sensation” made a remarkable redemption of himself at UFC 297 by delivering a finish through a KO over Malott, who he considers a promising talent of the promotion. For the fighter, this recent win would serve as a good reminder for the MMA world that he still hasn’t lost his touch.

“At the end of the day, I’ve beat the who’s-who in MMA, but the sport of MMA is very unforgiving,” Magny said after his UFC 297 fight. “It’s more so ‘what have you done for me lately?’ Sure, I beat the Carlos Condits, the Johny Hendricks, the Robbie Lawlers of the sport – but the sport of MMA has a very short memory.

“So to go out there and get a finish on a young up-and-coming guy who was undefeated in the UFC prior to tonight, I feel like it was a great statement. I feel like I’m still able to hang with the best of them – young guys, old guys, whoever. I feel like I went out there and did what I was supposed to do.”

Despite his age and recent losses, Magny is determined to continue pushing forward, underlining that there are still a lot of boxes to tick for his MMA record. It is unknown who will be his next opponent, but the fighter is positive about his future.

“Tonight was a great win, a great victory,” Magny said. “I’m not completely satisfied with what I accomplished just yet. I still have more hunger in me; I still have more in the tank to accomplish more. I’m definitely content with tonight’s victory, but I have a lot more that I’m capable of and that I’m able to show. On Monday, I’m right back to the drawing board and continue to move forward.”
