The Bellator Champions Series is now official, with PFL confirming the Bellator 302, which will be headlined by Corey Anderson and Karl Moore at SSE Arena in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The news about the event was first reported last month, following the departure of Vadim Nemkov from the light heavyweight division. This left the belt without an owner, giving Anderson and Moore the chance to fight for it. The match will now lead the first event the Bellator would have after it was purchased by the PFL last November.
As PFL CEO Peter Murray shared, Bellator 302 will be first in PFL’s Bellator Champions Series, which will be composed of eight global events with title fights.
“After the landmark acquisition of Bellator, the Professional Fighters League is excited to officially announce a new era of MMA with the launch of the Bellator Champions Series global franchise,” Murray said in a news release.
“‘The Bellator Champions Series will feature reigning Bellator champion fighters defending their titles against the best fighters in the world from the star-studded Bellator roster. Fans will have access to the best competition and the most innovative formats in MMA distributed by leaders in sport, including DAZN.”
