Looks like someone is making a much-anticipated comeback to the Octagon very soon and fans should definitely be pumped up for this news.

Crowd-favorite Nick Diaz of the 209 just posted a picture of himself with Dana White and former UFC brass Lorenzo Fertitta on the Diaz Brothers official Facebook page, as well as a photo of himself signing a contract with the hashtags #nickdiazfights #ufc #war.

Although the photo may be an old one obviously because the Fertitta brothers had recently sold their majority shares in the company to the highest bidder, it is believed that Diaz chose to take this to social media because his suspension is almost up and he just can’t contain the excitement.

Diaz was initially suspended seemingly a ways back for a failed drug test at UFC 183, which took place January 31, 2015. Diaz fought former UFC middleweight champion Anderson ‘The Spider’ Silva and lost initially by unanimous decision before failing a drug test after the fight (Silva also tested positive for banned substances, but in an earlier pre-fight test).

Trace amounts of marijuana metabolites over the allowable limit were found in Diaz’ bloodstream in the post-fight tests and as a result, Diaz was suspended for five years a few months later and fined $165,000.

The Diaz brothers are known advocates of cannabis.

Earlier this year however, Diaz’ case was revisited after an appeal and the results were in favor of the Stockton, California native. His suspension was reduced to 18 months, including those he had already served, making him eligible to fight again as of August 1, 2016. His fine was also reduced to $100,000.

After nearly two years away from the cage, Diaz is probably itching to get back in there to do what he loves doing. He will be eligible to compete again professionally in as early as a week’s time, so expect to see news of his next bout soon.
