Looks like the UFC lightweight division is going to be more complicated than ever if this fight goes ahead…

Former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre is on the cusp of his massive comeback. Since 2013 GSP has danced around the idea, but this year it finally came true. Although he fought his entire UFC career at 170 pounds, St-Pierre is returning at middleweight.

Facing Michael Bisping at UFC 217, ‘Rush’ will look to capture a title in his second weight class. Another UFC champ known for multi-divisional titles is none other than Conor McGregor.

After defeating Jose Aldo for the featherweight belt, McGregor faced Nate Diaz twice before winning the 155-pound title from Eddie Alvarez. Even with GSP still in retirement at that time, Nate Diaz claimed McGregor was meant to call out the Canadian after UFC 196.

Now that St-Pierre is back, another well-known face in the fight game slipped up in a recent interview.

“Georges is Going to Kick McGregor’s Ass”

While conducting an interview about GSP’s comeback, the ex-welterweight champion’s boxing coach Freddie Roach dropped the dime. As per Yahoo.com, Roach says McGregor is going to get squashed by St-Pierre:

It’s too late [for McGregor],” Roach said before dropping the bombshell. “GSP is going to kick his ass anyway.”

Since this interview, the UFC has denied any knowledge of this potential mega-fight. Obviously, the promotion hates when other sources break their news. Also, it’s a no-brainer in terms of a money-making bout for the promotion to push.

Some Trash Talk From GSP

During the pre-fight press conference for the UFC 217 title clash with Michael Bisping, St-Pierre hit his foe with his trademark trash talk. Credit to LowKickMMA for the report:

“But he’s got a loss Nov. 4. This I can guarantee you. He’s not gonna beat me. There’s nothing more sure. Water is wet, fire burns and I’m gonna beat Michael Bisping.”

“I’m gonna do whatever I want to do,” St-Pierre said. “I’m gonna strike you, I’m gonna put you down, I’m gonna submit you, I’m gonna restrike you if you stand back up, I’m gonna do whatever I want — whatever I want when I want to do it. That’s what I’m gonna do.”

“He’s a very angry man,” St-Pierre said. “He takes everything as insult, he takes everything personal. If you would have asked Michael Bisping 10 years ago, ‘What would make you happy?’

He would probably say, ‘Be world champion.’ Now that’s world champion he’s not happy anymore. I thin he has a lot of holes that he can’t fill in himself. That’s a problem.”

You could say ‘GSP is not impressed’ with Bisping’s attitude. With UFC 216 going down tonight, we’ll have a legitimate contender in line for McGregor’s title. Truthfully, it could also mean nothing with the UFC owners debt and hunger for money fights.
