Two UFC fighters, Roosevelt Roberts and Jamall Emmers, failed to meet their weight for their UFC 295 bouts. With this, the two have been penalized, pushing them to have their bouts at a catchweight and forfeiting 20% of their purses to their opponents.
UFC had its official UFC 295 fighter weigh-ins in New York last Friday. The majority of the fighters that appeared didn’t face any issues with their weight, including Jiri Prochazka (204.2), Alex Pereira (204), Sergei Pavlovich (259.8), and Tom Aspinall (261.6).
However, Emmers and Roberts failed to meet their weight requirements, registering 147 and 158 pounds for their featherweight and lightweight divisions, respectively. This translates to one pound excess weight for Emmers and two pounds for Roberts.
Unfortunately for the two, only the title fighters can get an additional hour to meet the standard, making it impossible for the two to remedy the situation. With this, both will be fighting catchweight bouts alongside forfeiting 20% of their purses to their opponents.
