Jorge Masvidal vs. Leon Edwards
Most backstage fights in MMA happen away from the prying eyes of the media, but that was not the case at UFC Fight Night 147 in London, where an altercation broke out during a post-fight interview that was airing live on ESPN+.
As Jorge Masvidal began his interview, one of his main welterweight rivals, Leon Edwards walked past calling him out for a fight in July.
“Maybe, maybe not,” Masvidal cooly replied, at which point Edwards told him to “shut up.”
Masvidal didn’t take kindly to that and started walking towards Edwards with his hands behind his back telling him to say that to his face.
As the two fighters then drew close to each other, ‘Gamebred’ suddenly unleashed a swift three-punch combination to the head of Edwards before they were pulled apart by other onlookers.
At that stage it became clear that Masvidal had actually injured Edwards, who was now bleeding from a cut to his cheek.
Masvidal’s fellow fighters largely approved of his actions, with Tim Kennedy noting that, “There is a short list of dudes you know if you talk shit to they will hit you in the teeth… @GamebredFighter is at the top of that list.”
