2. UFC 151

Dana White had always made a point to mention that the UFC had never cancelled an event. That changed when UFC 151 was scrapped. The event was supposed to be headlined by Dan Henderson vs Jon Jones for the light heavyweight championship. When Henderson was forced to pull out due to injury, a potential Jones vs Chael Sonnen fight was in the works.

Greg Jackson smelt a rat however. There were rumblings that Hendo knew he wasn’t going to be able to fight and that Chael Sonnen had been prepping to fill in under just this scenario. At the advice of his coaches, Jones declined the fight and UFC 151 was cancelled. They didn’t just rename UFC 152 the new UFC 151 since all the promotional materials had already been released. UFC 151 is a forever the promotion’s ghost card.

Considering the importance White placed on never having to cancel a card, this event sticks out as a failure for the company.
