Oh dear, Paulie Malignaggi is getting dragged over the coals again…
Seemingly forever now we’ve been talking about Conor McGregor vs. Floyd Mayweather. Partly because there’s not much going on in combat sports right now, and also because it’s a pretty crazy fight, MayMac has owned the headlines.
Alongside that rather dramatically outlandish bout is another feud featuring the Irishman. Another boxer embroiled in a bitter rivalry with McGregor, and it all stems from a number of sparring sessions.
Former two-time world champ Paulie Malignaggi first spoke Conor McGregor’s name months ago, leading to an unexpected and quite entertaining rivalry.

More Video Has Been Released This Week
As MayMac is just 24 hours away, all eyes are on the Irishman and his American foe. Why has the leaked sparring footage between Paulie and McGregor been so popular? It’s the only video out there of McGregor boxing, so why wouldn’t it be.
In a normal boxing match, we’d have hours of fight footage to analyze. Unfortunately, in this case, we’re reduced to watching McGregor spar Malignaggi for all of about 50 seconds in total.
Anyway, let’s work with what we have. The second video of McGregor vs. Paulie released by the UFC:

The Saga Continues
Recently appearing on camera for Fight Hype, Floyd Mayweather claimed he planted Malignaggi as a spy. Paulie also appears on camera, apparently confirming what ‘Money’ is saying:
Quoted by MMAFighting.com:
“My friend, it’s my friend, Paulie,” said Mayweather. “My friend Paulie has always been my friend. You know what, I even told my friend – my friend called me and said, ‘Floyd, do you want me to go to camp?’ I said, ‘Abso-f**king-lutely’.

“Suckers,” intoned Malignaggi. “Suckers.”
“This right here, this is special,” Mayweather said. “It’s going to my friend. Listen, this is gonna stay in Paulie’s family forever.
“Oh don’t worry. Me and Paulie are gonna stay at the house and talk about strategy, we’re gonna talk about everything. Don’t you worry. Paulie, thank you for going over there like I asked you to do. And he made it look good when he grabbed you and threw you down. That was a good one. That was a good one.
“Good work! We got him.”
Meanwhile, in other surprising news, Nate Diaz is rooting for Conor McGregor

“I think he has a great chance,” Diaz said on the “Against All Odds with Cousin Sal” podcast.
“I’ve fought the top pros in the fight game, the best fighters in the world, and done better than a lot of them,” Diaz said. “I fought Conor for 25 minutes, I believe he’s definitely going to have a chance. Fighting and beating the best boxer pound for pound in the world right now? That’s another story but a fight’s a fight and we’re going to have to watch and see what happens. Hopefully it will be a hell of a fight.”
“The boxers, every f*cking pro boxer is saying something and all this criticism, and I think it’s a better option is to keep your opinion out of it.”
“What happens when Conor wins, let’s say he wins, and all this sh*t these boxers talk, aww all this sh*t, oh you thought you knew but you don’t know sh*t because you say stuff like he doesn’t stand a chance. They should know, being fighters, in a fight, everyone stands a chance, and if they’re saying that there’s no chance, that’s a problem.”
Huzzah. 15 seconds of select footage for the UFC to promote Conor. Wonder how the other many hours of training went and why we aren’t shown it?
I love Nate Diaz as much as anyone, but he’s just being nice because there’s no reason to discredit a guy you solidly beat. Conor is fucked and has no real chance. Mayweather has never been KO’ed and his defense is on a level Conor can’t understand.
