Ovince St-Preux Survives Being Knocked Down By Tyson Pedro to Land the Submission in Crazy End to Fight…

The man they call Ovince Von Flue is back at it again with the submission game. The UFC light-heavyweight contender is one of the best grapplers in the sport. You just can’t count him out, as an unfortunate Tyson Pedro found out today.

Saint Preux and Pedro were fighting in the co-main event of UFC Singapore, with Donald ‘Cowboy’ Cerrone taking on British prospect Leon Edwards in the main event. The fight had high stakes for both men, with a win giving Pedro a chance to climb the rankings and defeat having grim prospects for St-Preux.

Once again Saint Preux proved that his grappling game should not be underestimated. After a brutal first round, he managed to lock in the finish, submitting Pedro, and solidifying his claim to be one of the best light-heavyweights in the world today.

Comeback

It was a massive comeback win for OSP. He was caught early with a violent punch by Pedro and dropped to the canvas. The Australian then tried to lock in a guillotine, but OSP was just too tall for him to be able to crank in the submission. Saint Preux miraculously survived.

The pair got involved in a bit of clinch work, and Pedro tried unsuccessfully to take down the bigger, stronger man. Out of nowhere, Saint Preux managed to gain control of Pedro’s arm and then it was all over. He locked in the armbar and Pedro had no choice but to tap. It was totally against the run of play, but credit to Saint Preux for proving that he should not be underestimated.

Main Event

In the main event, Leon Edwards got the biggest win of his career by beating Donald Cerrone by unanimous decision. He might have been the victor on paper, but ‘Cowboy’ came away with the fan’s love. Battered and bloody he was visibly frustrated by Edward’s constant movement and refusal to stand and throw.

As soon as the clock hit the last 20 seconds of round 5, he pointed to the center spot, in an attempt to make Edwards stand and bang with him. A win would have seen him overtake Michael Bisping to have the most victories in UFC history. He’ll just have to settle for winning the hearts of fans instead. He also managed to get more mic time than Edwards. Figure that out.
