Cody Stevens

A veteran of almost 30 MMA fights, Cody ‘Wolverine’ Stevens experienced one of the most gut-churning injuries ever seen in the cage in a fight against Aaron Mitchell at Honor FC 6 in 2018.

In the second round of the fight a striking exchange led to Mitchell’s thumb going deep into Stevens eye socket, resulting in a TKO stoppage.

It’s an injury that’s been seen time and time again in MMA competition, but in Stevens case it was a worst case scenario, with Mitchelll’s thumb having completely punctured his eyeball, leading to most of the fluid in the eye being lost.

That night Stevens was facing the prospect of having his eyeball surgically removed, but miraculously doctor’s were able to preserve it. That being said, he is now considered legally blind in that eye and may yet still lose it due to scar tissue, retina detachments and shrinkage of the organ.

Needless to say the injury has brought an end to Stevens career, though he has not let it force him out of the sport as nowadys he continues to own gym and teaches MMA classes.
