Thiago Silva

Already a somewhat controversial figures in the UFC due to his past drug test failures, Thiago Silva when the accused of domestic abuse by his ex-wife, Thaysa Kamiji in 2014.

Though they had spit two years earlier, an argument broke out between them in January of 2014 when Silva accused her of having had an affair.

He then pointed a revolver at her, threatened to kill her and put the gun in her mouth when she screamed. Later that night he sent her a text message threatening to hire someone to kill her.

A week later, the fighter showed up drunk at the gym owned by Pablo Popovich, who was in a relationship with Kamiji at the time, threatening to kill her, Popovich and everyone in the gym.

By the time police were called Silva had already left, but he was later taken into custody after after a stand-off at his home with a SWAT team, leading to multiple charges including aggravated assault with a firearm and resisting an officer.

The UFC released Silva soon after the news first broke, but he was later reinstated after charges were dropped due to Kamiji being “uncooperative.”

However, after Silva then claimed everything she had said was a lie, Kamiji released videos showing her ex-husband allegedly high on cocaine and wielding a gun, and also explained that the case had fallen through due to her decision to move to Abu Dhabi to start a new life.

The UFC subsequently terminated Silva from his contract again.
