Diana Belbita suffered a terrible loss to Molly McCann at UFC Fight Night 235, where she screamed in pain before tapping due to an armbar submission. Yet, despite her arm popping in the process, Belbita said that she didn’t suffer any broken bone but only a torn ligament.

The fight was quickly finished by McCann after executing her plan at the 4:59 mark of Round 1 in a match in the preliminary card. McCann targeted the left arm of her opponent. While this appeared usual in these fights, Belbita screamed in pain after “Meatball” put pressure on the area, making the former tap and hand the opponent her victory.

After the fight, “The Warrior Princess” felt the effect of the armbar, with UFC’s medical team giving her support afterward. This led many to believe that the submission left the Romanian-Canadian with a broken bone, which is not impossible. Yet, in a recent comment on X, the 27-year-old assured fans that it might only be a torn ligament.

“No broken bone,” Belbita wrote. “I have to do an MRI as soon as I get back into Canada. It feels like a torn ligament.”

The result extended Belbita’s skid to two fights after earlier losing to Karolina Kowalkiewicz last October. As for McCann, the result has ended her two-fight skid after losing to Erin Blanchfield and Julija Stoliarenko both by submission. This also gave her the second win against Belbita, whom she defeated in their first match back in October 2019.
