Alvarez vs. Conor’s Cardio
After 49 professional bouts, Canelo’s only loss remains to Floyd Mayweather, a fight many felt he would put up more of a challenge than he did. Some say Mayweather won all 12 rounds in that fight. His last fight was against Amir Khan, KO’ing the popular British fighter in the 6th round to retain the same championship he just vacated in May.
Alvarez’s first criticisms of Conor came shortly after UFC 196. Releasing a video blog, Alvarez was critical of McGregor’s decision to go up in weight (something Alvarez is no stranger to himself) and felt that Conor “beat himself” by being too arrogant.
Gas?
Before the rematch at UFC 202, Alvarez posted a photo of himself on Instagram wearing a Nate Diaz t-shirt, and would publicly predict that Diaz would once again defeat Conor. Conor would get the last laugh of course, as he would defeat Diaz and then publicly blast Alvarez for ducking tougher fights later that night.
Canelo responded by pointing out that Conor’s gas tank seems to hit empty mid-way through the second round.
Canelo got a bit fired up when told @TheNotoriousMMA referred to him as cherry picker. He chimed back Conor “gasses out after two rounds.”

It is hard to argue with Canelo’s point, as Conor’s downfall at UFC 196 was when he started to drop his hands and breathe heavy midway through the 2nd round, and he again gave Nate an opportunity at the same point of the fight at UFC 202. The repeated gassing of Conor in fights with Nate led Michael Bisping to send out the following tweet.
Cardio motherfuckers!

Simple and to the point Michael.
While he has teased the idea of fighting Floyd Mayweather somewhere down the line, perhaps Canelo Alvarez represents another possible opponent should Conor ever decide to box professionally.
