Canelo’s journey to becoming the UNDISPUTED super middleweight champion is as close as they come, only one belt is all he needs and the guy standing is none other than Caleb Plant. Canelo is widely regarded as the #1 Pound for Pound boxer right now, mainly because of the guys he has beaten and how active he is.
Sources: Canelo Alvarez and Caleb Plant are closing in on a deal for a Sept. 18 bout in Las Vegas, a PBC on Fox PPV, for the undisputed 168-pound championship. One-fight offer from PBC that would likely earn Alvarez career-high paydayhttps://t.co/823vQiSV4P

There is no question that Canelo is one of Boxing’s biggest star right now, he has the country of Mexico behind him and every time he fights all hardcore fans watch. Not only that but Canelo is always ready to face hard challenges like facing an undefeated Gennady Golovkin, moving up to face a bigger Sergey Kovalev and now unifying all the super middleweight belts. Not an easy task but who could doubt Canelo?
Although he was a super middleweight champion before, Canelo Alvarez started his super middleweight unification journey with Callum Smith where many thought he would trouble facing a much taller fighter but he run through him. He then faced Avni Yildirim since he was the WBC mandatory challenger.
Canelo then pursued to face the undefeated Billy Joe Saunders but he demolished Saunders. Although Saunders also put up a great fight but once Canelo caught him with an uppercut that injured his eye, it was the beginning of the end for Saunders. Canelo became WBO champion by beating Saunders.
Now only one more major belt is missing and that is the IBF supermiddleweight belt. As for Caleb Plant, he may not be the most powerful puncher but he has one of the best boxing defense in the division. It is a fight that will tempt Plant to take the fight mainly because of the massive payday, it will potentially be his biggest payday.
Do you think Caleb Plant will risk his undefeated record and face Canelo Alvarez? A fight that many want to see but not yet official as both parties have not come to a full agreement.
