Dominick Reyes will finally be able to redeem himself in case he defeats Carlos Ulberg at UFC 297 on January 20 at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. This will be a huge fight for the American after an uninterrupted string of losses in his last four fights. Ulberg, on the other hand, has a pleasing five-fight winning streak, making his defeat a motivating goal for Reyes.

The fight between the two was confirmed last Saturday during UFC 295. Prior to this, the New Zealander fighter openly challenged Reyes after the former won over Da-Un Jung via submission at UFC 293. Now, the fight is all booked.

This will serve as a huge opportunity for Reyes (12-4 MMA, 6-4 UFC), who has been struggling in his UFC MMA career since his loss to Jon Jones, which was followed by defeat by Jan Blachowicz, Jiri Prochazka, and Ryan Spann. It can be recalled that Reyes started UFC with an impressive 6-winning streak, but it was snapped by Jones in February 2020, with the fight lasting five rounds and ending with a DEC win.

Ulberg, meanwhile, will enter the cage in January with huge confidence after his successful fights in his last five bouts. Despite his UFC debut ending with a loss to Kennedy Nzechukwu in 2021, the fighter has made a significant UFC career recovery by defeating his next five opponents.

The lighter heavyweight bout of the two will join the lineup of UFC 297, featuring Sean Strickland vs. Dricus Du Plessis for the middleweight title and Raquel Pennington vs. Mayra Bueno Silva for the vacant women’s bantamweight title.
