UFC lightweight fighter Charlie Campbell hopes to have about five bouts next year. The Cannibal is fearless in taking the fights, adding that a fighter is meant to fight and he has nothing to lose.

The American has a record of 8-2 for MMA and 1-0 for UFC. It can be recalled that Campbell made a successful debut in the octagon after he successfully defeated Alex Reyes at the UFC Fight Night in September. At 3:38 of the first round, Campbell knocked out his opponent, allowing him to have a Performance of the Night award.

There’s still no scheduled fight for Campbell, but he’s hoping to get at least five fights next year. In his interview with MMA Junkie, The Cannibal underscored his goal to stay healthy, saying achieving this would allow him to handle the stated number of bouts.

“I am healthy and I’m looking forward to staying active,” Campbell said. “I’d like to get in like five (fights). I think that would be pretty doable if I’m healthy, I’m active. That’s my thing: I think fighters should fight.”

Campbell underlined that having that number of fights is not far from possible, noting that many fighters are available in his division. Regarding the possibility of losing, the professional mixed martial artist believes it is part of the career.

“Let’s just make it happen,” Campbell said. “For me, I’m not afraid to go in there. I’ve lost twice in my pro career. I have nothing to lose. I’m out there to try to either succeed or identify a way that doesn’t work. I want to go out there. I want to stay active.”

The UFC lightweight artist also encouraged fellow fighters to accept the same idea. “Everyone else should feel the same way,” he added. “They shouldn’t be afraid to lose. I certainly am not. I’m going out there, I’m looking to do every bit of damage I can do to somebody, and if it doesn’t work out, I know I’m trying my best and it should be more than enough. I know I’m going to get better with each fight. I could finish anybody, and I’ll do that to whoever I fight next.”
