Nate Diaz may have not been the guy Conor McGregor was supposed to fight at UFC 196, but as it turns out, Diaz and McGregor are a perfect fit.
The personalities just mesh together and create this incredible rivalry that makes for some really compelling drama. In the UFC’s extended promo for their rematch at UFC 202, the promotion shows that McGregor is just simply unable to get into Diaz’ head, even now.
The pair are locked in for a highly-anticipated rematch at UFC 202 which takes place August 20 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“I believe there are three forms to break down a man — mental, physical, and verbal,” said McGregor, detailing how he has beaten opponents in the past.
Yet McGregor, with all his physical gifts and mental fortitude, remains to this day unable to beat Diaz in any of the three aspects he mentioned.
“If someone says that they are the baddest badass in the room, I’ll be the first to stand up and beg to differ,” said Diaz, with confidence.

There’s just no beating Diaz in the mental game. Here’s a guy who knows how he can win, and knows exactly how he can also lose. Diaz has mentioned many times that feels McGregor can knock him out and that it’s outside the realm of possibility that he could end up unconscious on the canvas.
While other fighters would remain confident almost to a fault, Diaz keeps it real, showing true mental strength and not just an empty front.
“You’re not just going to run me over, tell me I’m a little bitch and get in my face because I’m a fighter first. I’ll slap the shit out of you if you get in my face,” said Diaz.
And there goes the physical.
In the first fight, McGregor threw everything at Diaz but the kitchen sink. Diaz took it all in stride. Yeah his face was all bloodied up, but it was nothing new. Diaz had been in this situation before, in fact, he revels in it.
