Former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping got obliterated by Kelvin Gastelum today. Another ex-champion at 185-pounds, Chris Weidman was less than classy in his reaction…
Company man Michael Bisping’s career with the UFC has seen ups and downs. Starting with his season winning Ultimate Fighter 3 victory over Josh Haynes, ‘The Count’ dropped to middleweight after four more fights at 205 pounds.
Since then, the brash Brit has fought tough competition, remaining around the top 10 at middleweight for 10 years. Finally fighting for a title for the first time in 2016, Bisping faced his rival Luke Rockhold in a UFC 199 rematch.
Shocking the MMA world, Bisping knocked Rockhold out cold and claimed the middleweight title. Unsurprisingly, ‘The Count’ did not spend his time as champion making new friends, in fact, it was the exact opposite.
Among those fellow fighters Bisping burned during his 17-month title reign was ex-champion Chris Weidman. As much as these two hate each other, they actually have quite a bit in common.
Bisping’s Old Buddy Weidman
Bisping trolled Weidman after he lost the title to Luke Rockhold, the very man who had beaten ‘The Count’ before. When Weidman fought Kelvin Gastelum, Bisping mocked the fact ‘The All-American’ was fighting a ‘welterweight.’
Ironically, Bisping would lose to former welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217. Then, when Bisping got spectacularly knocked out by Gastelum, it was Weidman who was able to brutally get on top of the former champ.
Here’s Weidman’s Tweet following today’s UFC Shanghai main event:
Funny how when I finish Gastelum in my last fight, people said it was because he was a welterweight including the former champ who just got finished by him. 🤔

Another similarity between Weidman and Bisping was they were both massive underdogs before winning the title. Perhaps now, after so much bad blood in the past, would be a good time for them to fight?
Anyway, just in case you didn’t catch it earlier, Bisping was basically decapitated by Gastelum in China. Check out the savage finish below:
Maybe it is time for Bisping to retire? According to Ariel Helwani, ‘The Count’ isn’t done yet. The Englishman said ‘Kelvin is a great guy, but it’s going to take a bigger pile of sh*t to get rid of me.’
